Let it Snow, Let it Snow!!

We got a nice amount of snow starting last night and continuing throughout today. Madison had such a great time outside! It was SO much fun chasing the ball, eating snow, making yellow snow - you know! We also decided it would be festive to take our Christmas picture today. It was so beautiful out!

This year we are going to Andrew's family's house in Arizona for Christmas. We're excited to go spend some time with them and to see our friends that we haven't seen for a while. Merry Christmas to you all!

Please Help if You Can!!

As we approach the holiday season there is so much to be thankful for: family, friends and all the blessings in life. This year I have made a commitment to help the foster children of my community. On December 12th, the Junior League of Boise will be hosting a holiday party for approximately 250 foster children. We will be providing treasure boxes for each child who attends. These children don't have a stable family let alone a mom and dad to share the holidays with. These kids get taken or already have been taken from their homes at a moments notice. By providing a treasure box, each child will have a special item that is just theirs to take with them. The box will be big enough for photos or special trinkets they hold close to their heart.

In order to make this happen, I need your help! Your donation will help us bring much needed holiday cheer to the lives of many children in foster care and their families in the Treasure Valley. With your help, we can give these children a happy holiday that they will remember fondly.

If you wish to donate please contact me directly via email at meggieshaye@yahoo.com or leave a comment! Anything you can contribute: $10, $25, $50 will make a difference! Have a safe and happy holiday!

Love,
Meg

We love visitors!!

This weekend we got the chance to hang out with Andrew's friend Leslie from high school. It's always so great to hang out with good friends. I ran into her at the mall so we came back to the house, went to the grocery store (thanks for being a good sport Leslie) and went to Famous Dave's for dinner. It was all so exciting that I forgot to take pictures - next time!! Thanks for coming to visit!!

See Spot Walk!!

This weekend was the annual walk for the Humane Society called See Spot Walk. The weather was perfect (cool and cloudy) and Maddie had so much fun. She got to socialize and sniff some...well you know what - it's her favorite thing :) We walked with a couple people from work. It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning and support a good cause.

New House!

Andrew and I bought a house! This isn't the best picture but you get the drift. We don't close on it until mid October so cross your fingers that everything goes smoothly. It only took about 3 weeks to find our home but it felt like an eternity. We originally found a home down by the river that we were so excited about. We made an offer and it was a smoking deal. The house was in short sale (pre-foreclosure) and it just happened that the bank I work for owned it which is against the code of ethics so we had to pull our contract. THEN, we found another home (in the same neighborhood as the one we bought) but someone made an offer before we could. So last week while I was in Spokane on business I received a notification of this house. I called Andrew at 5:30am the next morning and asked him to go look at it. He went that day and really liked it so we made an offer (without me seeing it). What a brave wife I am huh? Anyway, it all worked out and we received an accepted contract last week. We're so excited and can't wait for October to get here!

Fishing

We stayed with my parents on the way home from Idaho Falls. My dad took Andrew and I fishing in Hagerman. We all had success! Andrew and my dad caught the biggest fish and had a little fish fry that evening. Mom and I opted for another delicious cuisine for dinner (Fish is not the favorite food for us girls). Thanks for a fun weekend!

Bear World

Last weekend I had to go to Idaho Falls for work so Andrew came with me. It ended up being a mini vacation. Friday after work we went to Bear World near Rigby. What a cool place! You drive through this park where bears and other wildlife roam free. They literally come right up to your car. A bit frightening but very cool.

When was the last time you went to........

That's right! Andrew and I went to Sizzler last night. For some reason I had always held Sizzler on a little higher pedestal than we experienced last night. We were going to get the salad bar (8.99) but they had a "special" where you could add ranch steak and a potato for $1.00 more. So of course we did it! Lets just say I don't think we'll be returning there anytime soon! The food was OK, nothing horrible, but my childhood memory was of this really great place that you were SO lucky to get go to! I guess when your options are to eat out at McDonalds or Sizzler, Sizzler looks pretty grand! That's what i get for being born in a tiny little town in Idaho. Thanks for taking me out to dinner honey!!! :) Next time we'll keep childhood memories as just that!

Meet Madison

Most of you know Madison but just in case you haven't had the pleasure, here she is! She is our 2 1/2 year old yorkie poo. She is the princess of the house and pretty much regulates when, where and how she gets attention. We love her though!!

The day we brought her home - notice the scales says about 2.5 lbs.

Madison with "her cat" (actually my parents cat) Char. She's a whopping 18lbs now. The vets says she needs to drop a pound or so. What can we say - she likes her treats!!

She loves her mommy and daddy!

Hawaiian Honeymoon

Our sunset cruise that turned into a whale watching extravaganza. The whales were so active this evening.

Our snorkeling trip to Molokini and Turtle Town! Those wetsuits are HOT aren't they?!!

The view from our room!

Andrew taking advantage of his one time in life to pretend to be tarzan! This was at Twin Falls in the rainforest of Maui. Very cool little spot tucked away. The water was SO cold. When we got it in it took our breath away!

Me enjoying a fruity little cocktail by the beach

On the boat to go whale watching!

Andrew and I went to Maui for our honeymoon. We took a delayed honeymoon (went in April) due to timeshare availability. It ended up being the best thing we could have done. After the wedding we were so tired and I don't think we would have enjoyed it as much. We've been to Maui a few times but there are a few things that we just don't get tired of: whale watching, great food, sunsets, being out on the water and snorkeling. This time we found a cool little place called Twin Falls that is tucked back in the middle of the rainforest. It's about 1/2 mile hike back in there and it is just beautiful! The whales this time were just spectacular! In April they are getting ready to migrate back to Alaska. They come to Hawaii to mate in the warm water so April is the last chance the males have to mate. They really put on a show when they get desperate. We saw so many breeching (flying out of the water) and doing massive pectoral fin slaps. What a site to see these mammels who are thousands of pounds just fly out of the air! We had so much fun and can't wait to go again!!

A few of our favorites....

Colling Photography in Chandler, AZ did our wedding photos. They did a fabulous job and we would recommend them any day!! To see more of there work go to www.collingphoto.com.
